The modular smartphone HMD Fusion allows you to change and add functions to the gadget using different cases
The company HMD has introduced the modular smartphone HMD Fusion, which allows you to connect accessories to expand capabilities. For this, six Smart Pins contacts are provided at the bottom of the device.
By the end of the year, five Fusion Outfits cases will be released for HMD Fusion. One of them, the Flashy Outfit, includes a ring light, making the accessory convenient for content shooting.
The Rugged Outfit case adds IP68 protection and an emergency help button (ICE) to the smartphone. Among the Fusion Outfits, there are also cases containing a game controller or wireless charging function.
Users will be able to create their own accessories and software using an open-source developer kit.
Additionally, HMD Fusion has a Detox Mode that allows blocking social media apps and notifications. Users will have the option to choose which services, notifications, and contacts to block when activating the mode. This feature will also be available by the end of this year.
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.56-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate, as well as a 50 MP selfie camera. On the back panel, there is a 108 MP main camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The main sensor has electronic image stabilization, a night mode with RAW image processing, and AI HDR.
HMD Fusion is based on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with 6 or 8 GB of RAM, as well as 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. The gadget supports memory expansion via a microSD card slot. The battery capacity is 5000 mAh with 33 W charging support.
The starting price of HMD Fusion is €250. First, the smartphone will be sold in Europe, and then it will be released in the USA. The manufacturer promises to offer spare parts for the gadget through iFixit for seven years.
