Hugging Face opened pre-orders for Reachy Mini — an open-source robot with neural networks onboard

Hugging Face opened pre-orders for Reachy Mini — an open robot with neural networks onboard. The base version costs $300, while the maximum configuration will cost $450.

The height of the Reachy Mini is 28 cm, and its width is 16 cm. The device weighs 1.5 kg. The basic version requires a constant connection to a computer via cable. Currently, it supports computers running Linux and macOS. The advanced version is built on the Raspberry Pi 5 single-board computer and can work autonomously. In addition to the RPi, a battery is provided for this purpose.

The robot has a five-watt speaker, four microphones, an accelerometer, and a wide-angle camera. The head of the Reachy Mini has six degrees of freedom. In addition, the robot can rotate around its axis.

Hugging Face introduced pre-orders for the Reachy mini-robot equipped with neural networks to perform complex tasks.

The advantage of the robot is its open software. For developers, a Python SDK is provided, which allows Reachy Mini to learn new skills. The project authors also prepared a collection of 15 machine learning models, adapted for the robot. With their help, the device can recognize speech, images, and generate responses.

The basic version of Hugging Face is planned to be released at the end of summer 2025, while the advanced version will have to wait until autumn.
