Lenovo introduced the concept of AI companions for office workers

Lenovo presented at the MWC two device concepts designed to become an AI "friend" for office workers and improve productivity at work, reports The Verge.

Lenovo describes the AI Workmate as a "companion that is always by your side." It looks like a miniature robotic manipulator on a rotating base with a convex screen displaying expressive eyes. The device can be interacted with as a smart assistant using voice commands and gestures.

The AI Workmate can help with solving "practical business tasks." Beneath the screen, there is a camera for scanning documents to create brief summaries or automatically turn them into presentations. Local data processing is done with artificial intelligence. The Workmate also includes a built-in projector.

The second device from Lenovo is the AI Work Companion. It looks like a bedside alarm clock with a large screen, but instead of waking the user, it uses artificial intelligence to "synchronize tasks and schedules across all devices to create a balanced daily routine."

The Work Companion tracks time spent in front of the screen and suggests taking breaks throughout the day. It also entertains the user with animated faces and summarizes the week with reports on completed tasks.

It also functions as a docking station, allowing a laptop to be connected to multiple displays via HDMI and providing USB ports for charging other devices.

Earlier, the company released a laptop with a folding display, the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable. The device was announced in early 2025. The price of the laptop starts at $3.3K.
