In iOS 18, a feature for checking the originality of iPhone parts will appear

In the beta version of iOS 18, a Repair Assistant utility has appeared, with which users can check iPhone parts for originality. In addition, installed parts can be configured in the automatic screen, for example, calibrate the display.

If you replace components in an iPhone with iOS 18, Repair Assistant will check their originality upon launch. The system will also be able to determine if they were removed from a stolen donor. If the part turns out to be stolen, the smartphone will block it. The ban on use can be lifted only by logging into the Apple ID of the device from which the part was removed.

In addition, users will be able to configure and calibrate new parts, including displays, batteries, and cameras. The utility only works with original parts. The function will only be available to users who replace components on their devices. Others will not see the Repair Assistant item in the settings.

It is noted that after updating to iOS, the system will immediately report which parts can be reported. At the same time, users who have repaired their smartphones are worried that the craftsmen could use components from stolen devices, and the iPhone will not be usable after the update. It is also important to note that the utility is available on iPhone 12 and newer models.
