DJI Introduces Avata 360 — FPV Drone with 360° View and 8K Video Recording
Chinese company DJI has unveiled the Avata 360 FPV drone with a 360° field of view. It features dual 2-inch sensors with 8K/60fps video recording and 120-megapixel photo resolution. Sales will begin on April 26, with prices starting at 720 euros in Europe.
The Avata 360 camera module is based on two one-inch 64 MP sensors each, with an f/1.9 aperture. The camera lenses cover 200° horizontally, together providing a full 360° sphere. There are two shooting modes: 360° panoramic view (8K/60fps) and FPV (4K/120fps). The drone records everything around it, and during post-processing, the user can crop the desired angle.
Data transmission is handled by the DJI O4+ module. It provides a connection range of up to 20 kilometers. Video streaming is available at 1080p/60fps. There is a built-in 42 GB storage. This capacity is enough to record 30 minutes of 360° video. Wi-Fi 6 support is claimed, with transfer speeds up to 100 Mbps.
The Avata 360 features a removable 38.6 Wh battery, allowing up to 25 minutes of flight. The camera lenses can be replaced by the user. Users note that this is especially useful for FPV drones, which often sustain damage due to inattentive piloting. The device weighs 400 grams.
The drone supports DJI RC 2, RC-N2, RC-N3 remote controllers, and Motion Controllers. The image is displayed on DJI Goggles. It also includes intelligent object tracking, obstacle avoidance, and automated flight along various trajectories.
The DJI Avata 360 will go on sale on April 26, with the following prices in Europe:
Drone only — 460 euros;
Drone with DJI RC 2 remote — 720 euros;
Drone with DJI RC 2 remote and spare batteries — 960 euros;
Drone with RC Motion 3 controller, Goggles 3, and batteries — 960 euros.
