iPhone 16 Pro: touch shutter button and new camera features

Design

The appearance of the devices has not changed. The company did not change the location of the cameras but changed the dimensions. The smartphones are available in four colors: black, gray, titanium, and gold. It was expected that one of the body colors would be copper, but this did not happen. There are two versions to choose from: iPhone 16 Pro with a screen diagonal of 6.3 inches and iPhone 16 Pro — 6.9 inches. Both displays are made using Super Retina XDR technology and are protected by Ceramic Shield glass.

On the right side, as in the basic iPhone 16, a touch button Camera Control was added to control the camera. With its help, you can zoom the picture, adjust the shooting mode, and take photos. All presses are accompanied by vibration, creating a tactile feedback effect.

Cameras

The 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models have three cameras:

• Main module: 48 MP, f/1.78, and two times zoom;

• Wide-angle: 48 MP (previously 12 MP), f/2.2, and autofocus;

• Telephoto: 12 MP, f/2.8, and five times zoom.

New modes include the ability to record video in 4K at 120 FPS, and the speed of the videos can be changed even after recording. Neural network support has also been added. Now the machine learning model listens to sounds while shooting video, identifies the main ones, and makes them louder, muffling background noise.

Hardware

As the processor for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, the company used the A18 Pro chip with a 3 nm process technology. Additionally, a 16-core neural processor for machine learning tasks and a 6-core GPU were installed. Support for Qi2, Wi-Fi 7, and USB 3 protocols is declared.

The price for the iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999, and for the 16 Pro Max at $1199. Apple plans to start sales on September 20. Also, during the presentation, the company introduced the iPhone 16, Watch Series 10, Watch Ultra 2 in black, and updated headphones.
