Apple announces updated Studio Display and Studio Display XDR monitors

Apple has updated its Studio Display lineup. Both devices feature a 27-inch screen, 5K resolution, ProMotion technology support, and Thunderbolt 5 ports. Prices start at $1600.

Studio Display

The Studio Display is equipped with a 27-inch matrix with a resolution of 5120 × 2880 pixels and a 60 Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is 600 nits. The monitor supports the Display P3 color space and True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the temperature and brightness of the screen depending on the ambient lighting.

The device is equipped with a 12-megapixel webcam supporting Center Stage and Desk View features. The first keeps the user centered in the frame while moving, and the second allows capturing what’s happening on the desk in front of the user. For audio output, six speakers are used, and for capturing, there is a system of three microphones.

On the back of the Studio Display, there are four USB-C ports: two regular ones with data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gb/s, and two Thunderbolt 5 ports with speeds up to 120 Gb/s. With Thunderbolt 5, you can combine up to four monitors. Additionally, one of the ports supports charging up to 96W. For example, the monitor can charge a MacBook from which the image is output.

The Studio Display costs $1600, and the version with a nanostructure texture is priced from $1900. The package includes the monitor itself and a 1-meter Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable.

Studio Display XDR

Studio Display XDR is Apple's new flagship monitor, replacing the Pro Display XDR. The device is equipped with a 27-inch matrix with Mini-LED backlighting, a resolution of 5120 × 2880 pixels, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness for SDR content is 1000 nits, and for HDR, it reaches up to 2000 nits. It supports Display P3, Adobe RGB, and True Tone. Otherwise, the monitor is identical to the regular Studio Display.

The base version of the Studio Display XDR costs $3300, and the version with a nanostructure texture is priced at $3600.

In early March, Apple has already managed to present the budget iPhone 17e, iPad Air with M4, MacBook Air with M5, and MacBook Pro with M5 Pro / M5 Max (1, 2, 3). It is expected that on March 4, the company will hold a full presentation and showcase a budget MacBook with a mobile processor. Insiders claim that the device will be named MacBook Neo.
