Samsung is discontinuing production of Galaxy Z TriFold "tri-fold phones"
Insiders report that Samsung is discontinuing production of Galaxy Z TriFold foldable smartphones with two hinges. The company plans to sell off warehouse stocks, but new devices will no longer appear
In December 2025, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold — its first foldable smartphone consisting of three parts and two hinges. Thanks to this design, the smartphone can be unfolded into a 10-inch tablet for more convenient work, reading, and interacting with multiple apps simultaneously. The device was equipped with 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. Prices started at $2,500.
In mid-March, just three months after the launch, insiders reported that Samsung is discontinuing the production of the Galaxy Z TriFold. Sales will officially end once the stock in warehouses is depleted.
The reason for discontinuing production, as reported by insiders, is that the smartphone was released to showcase the technology, not for mass sales. Additionally, Samsung's plans may have been affected by the rising cost of memory. Because of this, the smartphone's price would have to be increased even further, which would negatively impact sales of an already expensive device. Other sources report that the company sold around a thousand units in three months, so the model was deemed unprofitable.
