Firmware 1.0 released for Flipper Zero
The Flipper Zero development team announced the release of firmware version 1.0. This is the first major update in three years. The update includes support for custom applications, JavaScript, and an improved NFC subsystem.
What's new in firmware 1.0:
Custom applications. Users now have access to a store with hundreds of applications that expand the device's capabilities. When downloaded, they are stored on the memory card in FAP (Flipper Application Package) format. The entire catalog of extensions is available in the mobile app and on the Flipper Lab portal.
JavaScript support. Flipper Zero can now run JS applications. For this, the optimized mJS engine is used. Before launching, the script must be copied to the
SD Card/apps/Scripts
folder.
New NFC subsystem. The developers abandoned RFAL from STMicroelectronics and created their own solution, which consumes less memory and works 2.7 times faster. Thanks to this, it was possible to add protocols for working with Icode Slix and FeliCa Lite-S cards, and parsers are now available as separate extensions in the app store. Also, dumps from Mifare Classic cards can now be viewed and edited in the mobile app.
Autonomy. Added a special mode in which Flipper Zero can last about a month on a single charge. For comparison, in normal mode, the charge lasts only a week.
Bluetooth. Bluetooth connection with Android devices has been doubled in speed. Ways to speed up for iOS are still being sought.
Fast updates. Thanks to the use of a new compression algorithm, it was possible to speed up the firmware update download by 40%.
IR remote. Added several universal IR remotes for controlling TVs, air conditioners, projectors, and audio systems. External infrared modules can also be connected.
Flipper Sub-GHz. The Flipper Sub-GHz app can now decode 89 radio protocols. Along with this, support for external modules and a mode for listening to analog radios have been added.
You can update Flipper Zero using the mobile app or the qFlipper utility on PC.
